Free Play mode is available along with the Story Mode. You have to put a lot of movements in but they are definitely entertaining. There are three mini-games which can be quite challenging at times. You win the battle and you unlock more stages. Before each combat, you do the pose on the screen to choose your fighting style. On the main menu, you raise or lower your right arm to select an option and throw a punch with your left arm to enter. At the very beginning, you must bow to start the game, which will make you feel like a real kung fu master. This game is creative in terms of selecting options. As this game family is oriented, it would have been a real blast if parents can get into teams with kids and compete with each other. The fact it is a single player game limits the potential of competition or cooperation among players. The game would have been better if it was a multiplayer game. Both mini games are fun and accurate addition to the fighting system, but I seem to have a little more trouble tossing the correct noodle bowl to the correct customers. As for the noodle serving levels, you will grab different bowls, stirring, and throwing them at customer according to their needs. The rickshaw racing is controlled by leaning side to side for steering, and jumping and dodging to avoid obstacles in the races. Although the core fighting system seems simple, it has one of the best uses for the Kinect I have seen for a while.īesides the fighting, Kung Fu Panda 2 also offers 2 other types of games, rickshaw racing and noodle serving. To top it all off, when you have landed 3 successful blows to stunned enemies, you will be prompted to call the aid of the Furious Five’s signature moves by voice control. Soon, you will be running out of breath quickly after all the hopping and punching. Before you know it, you will be throwing punches, jumping and dodging enemies attack as the sensor does a great job in recognizing your movements. It requires a lot of fast movements to knock out your enemies. During the fight, there are three phrases – attack, defense, and the final attack. Lightning which focuses on speed, power focuses on energy, and flowing is a mix of the previous two. There are three styles of Martial Arts you can choose from before you enter a battle: lightning, power, and flowing. The attack moves include punches, kicks, and jump kick while the defense moves include dodge, duck, and side block. This game definitely requires a lot of actions. To familiarize you with the Kung Fu moves, you can go through the tutorial and learn the basic moves from Po. This game truly takes advantage of the motion and voice control ability of the Xbox Kinect. Even though it doesn’t teach Real “Kung Fu”, kid and adult will have a fun time with this intuitive and interactive game.

As the movie is about Martial Arts, this game will have you doing a lot of fighting with punches, kicks, and dodges.
